Have students use the "Health Triangle" to introduce themselves. On a blank sheet of paper, they draw their own personal health triangle and label each side for one of the three components of Health: Physical, Mental/Emotional, and Social. Along each side of the Triangle, they list 10 adjectives or activities about themselves that directly relate to the component it represents. You can also have students color code the components.

I have my classes compete, collecting aluminum can tabs for a local senior citizens' group. I promise a reward for the winning class; movie, fun day, etc. The students bring in garbage bags full of small tabs. It's amazing how many parents say, "I've got some tabs at home for you." The students learn to volunteer, recycle, and involve the whole family. The senior home recycles the tabs and donates the money to St. Jude Hospital.
