Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) can help school districts, schools, and others conduct a clear, complete, and consistent analysis of health education curricula based on the National Health Education Standards and CDC’s Characteristics of Effective Health Education Curricula. The HECAT results can help schools select or develop appropriate and effective health education curricula and improve the delivery of health education to address mental health and other health education topics.

These programs focus on different health topics, risk behaviors, and settings including issues related to mental health.

Calcium Matters

Milk Matters is a web site from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development that promotes the importance of calcium for young people. The web site contains a section entitled "Just for Kids," as well as classroom activities and materials for teachers.

Media and Health

Media Smart Youth: Eat, Think, and Be Active! is a free interactive after-school education program for young people ages 11 to 13. It is designed to help teach them about different types of media and how they can impact overall health.

Encourage Interactive Learning

BAM! Body and Mind is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for students that encourages interactive learning. In addition to a game room, nutrition quizzes, and answers to question on peer pressure and other topics, this site offers ways to incorporate the material into lesson plans for use in the classroom.

Healthy Living Activities

Learn to Be Healthy provides free interactive activities for students. The site offers games, webquests, and other activities that are geared towards children and teens. However, there are also lesson plans and worksheets available to benefit educators.

Drug Prevention

The American Council for Drug Education offers resources for drug prevention from the kindergarten level through the 12th grade. Drug fact sheets, worksheets, and activities are all available on this site. Teachers can also access this site for drug prevention lesson plans and communication tips.
