STOMP - Rhythm Activity
Divide students into pairs or do this as a whole class activity.
- Teacher/leader beats out a rhythmical pattern (may use hands on desk/floor, clap, or stomp). Start with simple rhythm patterns (such as clap, clap, stomp, stomp) and encourage students to use large body movements to move to the rhythm.
- Leader will place hands up in the air when the pattern is complete so students will know it is their turn.
- Have students take turns initiating other rhythmical patterns to follow.

Fun Relays
Line students up into two to three rows for a relay competition. Define for students the area they must travel when it's their turn. The team whose members successfully complete the course first is the winner. Try the options:
- Put a bean in spoon, and have students traverse back and forth on the defined course - if the bean drops, the student must stop and replace it before moving - then give to the next person in her line.
- Place a bean bag between the student's knees - she must jump her way to the opposite side and drop the beanbag onto a target (e.g., box, paper, etc.).
- Balance an object on the student's head and have her race around a determined area - if he object drops, she must stop and replace before moving-then give the object to the next person in line.
- Hop on one foot across the defined course - hop back on the other foot.
- Crab walk around the determined area.

Front of the Line
Organize students into small groups of three or four and have them stand in a line. Designate the person at the front of the line as the leader. When you make the signal, the leader leads her group in an exercise. If space permits, the lines can move throughout the room following their leader; if not, tell students to do the exercises in place. At your signal, the leader moves to the end of the line and the second person becomes the leader and selects the exercise. Continue this activity until each student has had the opportunity to be the leader.

Mirror Image
Students will enjoy the physical movement involved in this activity, as well as develop awareness skills:
- Pair each student with a partner.
- Have students mirror the movements, facial expressions, and features of his or her partner.
- Neither student should completely control the movements. Movements should occur organically by watching the other partner.
