Prepare a list of multiple choice questions to review a lesson or chapter in the textbook. Instruct students that they should perform the following movement(s), depending on what the answer to each question is:
A = Jumping Jacks
B = Arm Circles
C = Quick Feet
D = Knee Lifts
Draw a simplified version of blood flow (Right Atrium, Right Ventricle, Lungs, Left Atrium, Left Ventricle, Arteries, Capillaries, Veins) on the board. Arrange students in a circle formation and assign small contiguous groups to represent each element of blood flow that appears on the board. Distribute several paper balls to approximately every 5 people. On the signal, Start Pumping, the ball will be passed to the next person. When students receive the ball, they should shout what part of the blood flow they are representing. Once students understand the basic process, call out an activity which would speed up or slow down the blood flow. For example: Playing basketball (fast), sleeping (slow), walking to class (medium), sitting in class (slow).
Divide students into small groups. Each small group makes up its own sports aerobic combination. The routine must have at least 4 parts. For example: shoot, jump rebound, dribble, pass. Play some lively music and have students repeat their aerobic routine to the music.
Read aloud a passage from the health textbook. Every time the students hear a verb, they should jog. When they hear an adverb, they should shake their hands.
